Our 2022 Pinot Noir is hand-picked from our Pemberton, Western Australia vineyard, harvested at first light on 10 March 2022. This is our sixth vintage crafted from five pinot noir clones — 667, 777, 114, 115 and G8V3 (Martini) — with the 2022 blend featuring a higher proportion of Martini (30%) and 667 (29%), reflecting the growing individuality each clone shows as our vines mature.

Winemaking
A quarter of the ferment used whole clusters for added flavour and perfume, with the remainder de-stemmed. Berries were left uncrushed, with 10% of the free-run juice drained off pre-fermentation to concentrate the wine. After a two-day cold soak, the must was hand-punched down several times daily, gradually breaking down the whole bunches for a gentle release of sugar. The wine was pressed into 500-litre French oak puncheons (1/4 new) and matured on lees for 10 months. Bottled on 15 February 2023 — 4,880 bottles produced.

Tasting notes
Ruby red with real depth of colour. The nose is sophisticated and perfumed — the dominant 667 clone contributes earthy structure, while Martini adds forest floor, crushed autumn leaves and mushroom notes. On the palate, layered dark cherry, raspberry and blackberry are framed by fine, silky tannins with excellent structure and no astringency. The finish is long and savory, carrying our signature subtle oak spice and lingering red fruit.
